Interferences (2014) Alberto Maserin

Belfast Exposed Futures is a new gallery space dedicated to showing the best new photographic talent from Northern Ireland.

Interferences is the first exhibition to launch in the Belfast Exposed Futures gallery, a new space dedicated to emerging photography from Northern Ireland.

Over the past two years Alberto Maserin has documented the influence of a U.S. military base on a small town in Italy. The base was established during the Cold War in 1955 and is still active. The parameters of the base are securely guarded and secrecy shrouds the site. As a result, it has become a source of much speculation for the local population.

Maserin has extensively documented the area and its inhabitants. His quiet photographs observe the uncomfortable relationship between the military installation and its surroundings. The work also examines the psychological implications of this site on the local imagination.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a limited edition print that will be available for purchase.
