Not Just a Wedding Photographer – Isolation Week 10

Essay from Chris McSherry’s blog

Week 10 of Isolation: May 18th – May 24th

It’s Week 10 already. On week 2 I took a walk and passed a field with a football net. I saw the shot I wanted, I just couldn’t get it then. On my walk this week I finally got the photo I had envisaged. Lonely, rusted football nets, in a large overgrown field, capturing a sense of time and abandonment.

We haven’t seen Lauren’s parents since February, which is odd when we usually saw them once or twice a month. Phone calls now consist of ‘when this is all over we will..’ conversations and what lock down is like with a 16 year old. When clearing the office we decided to send a gift, a small box filled with Polaroids of memories from the last 4 and a half years. Wish we could see their faces when they open it.

Also this week, we decided to book the ice cream van to come to our house. We forgot that he plays the music when he comes round, which notified the street that ice blasts and 99’s were all round! Lauren treated kids next door to some ice cream. 15 minutes later, the twins were at the door to say ‘thank you’ – it was such a great feeling to see their smiling, happy, ice cream covered faces.
