About Graeme

Graeme trained in the visual arts and media in North Down and Ards Institute, the Belfast Institute, and attained his BA in Film, Photography & Imaging at Edinburgh Napier University.

With more than six years of experience working in the camera department as a Digital Imaging Technician on the TV series Game of Thrones. For the past year Graeme has focused primarily on photography as a career.

Graeme’s Practice

My work reflects conflicting emotional and physical experiences of fear and exuberance, decay and renewal, and failure and efficiency. Through the techniques of performative and documentary photography, I create scenes drawn from memories and personal experiences.

Showing the struggle of the individual against adversarial circumstances and the chaos that lurks behind the seemingly normal surface of everyday life, I explore psychological and therapeutic aspects of photography. But it is not all dark.

My aim is also to evoke wonder and mystery, inspiring those who see my work to get lost in the narrative and draw parallels. My approach to photography originates from my education at the North Down and Ards Institute, the Belfast Institute, and the Screen Academy Scotland at Edinburgh Napier University and working in the film industry. I continue to investigate different visual techniques to convey a story and to play with memory and narrative.
