About The Event

Belfast Exposed invites you to the exhibition opening of 'Inside Out - New Photography from China', a co-curated selection of works from 15 renowned photographers, lecturers and students from Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, in Gallery 1, on Thursday 23rd January, 7-9pm

"The exhibition represents each artist, however as a collective exhibition there is a strong philosophical approach within their practices that unifies the show. The exhibition explores Chinese history, values and identity while reflecting on personal journeys of self-discovery and memory. The natural world has a strong presence with investigations into landscape that encapsulates a sense of place and being. Technology is explored through changes in society and use of photography reflecting on positives and negatives that at times has a focus on a ritualistic process of documentary. Traditions plays a significant role through the use of colour and light, reflecting on Chinese culture as well as providing discourse on how art and image can be interpreted by the audience."
