Belfast Exposed Presents: The World’s First TikTok Exhibition

Gallery 2

1st Dec 2022 to 22nd Dec 2022

About The Exhibition

Coming this December, Belfast Exposed is excited to announce the WORLD'S FIRST TikTok exhibition!

We have worked with VAVA Influence – Northern Ireland’s premier influencer marketing agency – and a trio of Northern Irish TikTok creators to present an immersive, genre-defying exhibition that seeks to bring new audiences to the visual arts.

The first of its kind globally, the exhibition will be highly interactive for audiences and push boundaries of what can be done in an otherwise static gallery space. It is also part of our Futures initiative, which seeks to provide platforms for emerging artists & creators.

Taking over Gallery II and our social media channels, the exhibition will feature photography, audio visual, interactive digital and installation elements. We will be working with creators Emma White (@officialemmawhite), Conor Joyce (@conorsadce) and Erin Riley (@eringinariley), given free rein to create, with the goal of producing work that is interactive both in person and online.

Since its launch in 2016, TikTok has become one of the world’s most popular social media platforms and was ranked as the world’s most popular website in 2021, surpassing Google. Having become a staple of both personal and business social media, TikTok is home to artists, creatives and influencers of all kinds. Vast quantities of audio and visual content are generated on it every day, both through original content creation and ‘remixes’ of existing TikToks by users. We are keen to explore how these cycles of creation and adaptation are interpreted by our audiences. TikTok is home to artists, creatives and influencers of all kinds. ‘We are thrilled to be presenting this world first of an exhibition and pushing the boundaries of what can be done in our gallery spaces. Working with VAVA and these creators will bring a whole new audience to Belfast Exposed, as well as introducing our existing audiences to a new way of producing & consuming art. We can’t wait to see how they react!’
