Description

The work made by Victor Sloan throughout the Troubles was a significant response through the last two decades of the last century. However, Sloan’s earlier work, photographs that provided the raw material for his later ‘re-worked’ art works, are rarely seen and little known. Ken Grant examines the early work, Sloan’s life and intentions during the era in which this work was made and, by association, brings a new understanding to the development of Craigavon new town and the influence it has had on the artist’s life and work. The work was included in a catalogue that accompanied Sloan’s one person exhibition at FE McWilliam Gallery.
