Artist Talk: The Language of Light with Joe McNally
Join world-renowned photographer Joe McNally for an illuminating talk about chasing light, and how it intersects with a photographic life.
Join internationally acclaimed photographer Joe McNally for a hugely illuminating evening talk on light as it intertwines with the photographic life at the wonderful BELFAST EXPOSED photography gallery. With a long and varied career covering everything from journalistic work to portraits, fashion and dance, Joe’s portfolio is incredibly diverse and his photography knowledge second-to-none. McNally has photographed FIVE cover stories for the National Geographic (amongst an overall FIFTEEN coverages), and SEVEN covers of LIFE Magazine. McNally is known for his penchant to get his camera in “a different place” and has TWICE climbed the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, in addition to climbing the Empire State Building FOUR times. The arc of a photo career requires lots of twists, turns and the capacity to reinvent and adapt. In this honest, open account of a career spanning decades, Joe McNally will show highs, lows, and the considerable amount of re-direction required of a photographer to remain viable. Digital, social media, branding and marketing are now all in the realm of a photographer’s daily responsibilities. Joe is humorous and candid about the skills needed to survive the often bumpy, maddening, rewarding and passionate photographic career path. After many years, he is still shooting assignments and pursuing the world, camera to his eye, with great enthusiasm and curiosity.
Tickets are priced at £15 and available here.
